Prices from the shops we compare. Nobody pays for a place. How we rank

How we calculate

Each brand has one or more battery systems. A battery is made for the tools and chargers of its own system. So you first choose the system here, not the brand: the name is usually on the battery and on the tool, for example LXT, XGT, M18 or Power X-Change.

What we know comes from the makers. Makita lists LXT, CXT and XGT on separate pages as separate systems. Bosch says the Power for All battery (the green line for home and garden) suits all Bosch 18V home and garden tools and the tools of its partners, such as Gardena, Husqvarna, Gloria, Wagner, Rapid and Steinel. DeWalt says a FlexVolt battery also fits almost all 18V XR tools and their chargers. The Cordless Alliance System lists Metabo as a partner and speaks of full compatibility in the 18V class.

What we do not know, we do not say. We found no statement from Bosch about the blue Professional 18V battery and the green Power for All battery, and no official page from Milwaukee, Parkside or Ryobi. Adapters between brands are not official; ask the maker what that means for your warranty. Always check the system and the voltage on your tool and your battery. We have no Parkside or Ryobi batteries in the comparison.

The batteries below are sorted by price per Ah: today's lowest price divided by the capacity. That shows which battery for your system gives the most capacity for your money.
